SNN has great news about books:

The Whole World is

Going to Crap!!!….

A Baby Boomers Inspired

Rantings of Ultimate Outrage”

Author: Karl Hosch

THE WHOLE WORLD IS GOING TO CRAP!!!" A BABY BOOMER'S INSPIRED RANTINGS OF ULTIMATE OUTRAGE! is an outrageous and wry social commentary, that is perhaps most importantly, a thought provoking look back into the recent past. It’s based on what a typical Baby Boomer may or may not have observed in that period and why this may be leading the whole world into a chaos. It’s timely in that we are now undergoing vast changes in our world many of which are evaluated by the media based upbringing of a good portion of the young to middle aged adult population. THE WHOLE WORLD… is meant to entertain, as well as inform in its own unique way, and bring a smile of recognition and recollection upon the face of the Baby Boomer reader, and an invaluable awareness of the past, to the younger generations and, of course, shock the reader into inquiring within.

This book is social commentary with a humorous edge. It presents its viewpoints in a unique style that are quite often sardonic and amusing especially when it comes to the various realizations of the often self-destructive behavior people exhibit in every day life. Since SNN strives to reverse the frame and see the glass half full this book points out salient points of how we got where we are; very useful information for a process as monumental as changing the way we think.

Humor is a great stress reliever. Additionally, “many truisms have been said in jest with awareness in any form we can absorb a key to change.

It vital to understand that awareness is the first step in an important equation: AWARENESS + ACCEPTANCE + ACTION = CHANGE. In these troubling times, laughter, awareness, action and change are imperative to our goals to be empowered, growing, and healing spirits. Spiritual growth doesn’t mean we can’t laugh at ourselves. Laughter about the current state of our civilization can be a healthy coping mechanism providing we move forward and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Think global, act local and remember that change begins with each of us.

"THE WHOLE WORLD..." takes the task of presenting enjoyable reading in a reasonably sized package and makes for satisfying reading especially calling our attention to why the world is the way it is and the reason why alternative media like this site needs to exist.

The impetus to look back and possibly gain some powerful, personal insight into how and why we have reacted to the recent past the way we have is certainly important. For the younger reader, the opportunity to experience the inner thoughts of the times in question may provide an insightful and refreshing peek at the people and world around us. The book would be a definite lead-in to many a stimulating and thought provoking discussion of what has happened, and all the while, the book would be satirical, amusing, and fun!

The author, Karl Hosch, is a Baby Boomer born in 1951. He grew up in the midst of immense and growing national prosperity, air raid drills and several political catastrophes and assassinations. Supposedly, he and his generation were being honed into part of a powerful generation that was shaped and even misshaped by an ever increasing presence of Madison Avenue, government policies and seemingly endless special interest groups.

Apparently, he has kept a balanced perspective and a great sense of humor. Karl writes screenplays that are mostly "feel good" in some way and manage to bring some positive thinking and fun aspects to the forefront when possible.

He has won numerous national and international awards for his film-making and is now in the process of developing several important film production packages, based on his screenplay writings.

Despite its tongue-in-cheek title this is a stimulating, thought provoking and entertaining book. It’s available through Trafford Publishing; call toll free at (888) 232-4444 or go to www.traffordpublishing.com.

We Americans spend billions of dollars on our outward appearance and what we perceive to be good health. However, good health is always a balance of mind, body and spirit. Making a resolution to focus on increasing well-being & embracing inner peace through the spiritual component seems apropos.

We live in a spirit-deprived society and, therefore, we must overcompensate by finding ways to add the spiritual component to our lives. Yes, it is work but its efforts bring about increasingly better health and a richer and deeper existence.

One of the easiest ways to gain insight, knowledge & broaden one’s spiritual horizons is to read SpiritWise © self-help books that offer us an opportunity to expand and heal. That’s an “inside job” and the responsibility for it lies within each of us. It has been said, “physician heal thyself,” however, that does not pertain to only medical doctors but rather to each of us. All healing is self-healing for, inevitably, we are the “masters of our fate and the captain of our souls .” ...read more

Spiritual books such as Gary Zukav’s Seat of the Soul, Wayne Dyer’s There is a Spiritual Solution to Every Problems & the works of Larry Dossey, MD’s on the power of prayer , Dr. Carolyn Myss, Christiane Northrup, MD, Deepak Chopra, MD, Don Michel Ruiz, MD, et al. are “must reads”.

Recently, the Starlight Network News came across Shambhala Publications a publisher offering a wonderful collection of spirit-based books.

Sacred Therapy: Jewish Spiritual Teachings on Emotional Healing and Inner Wholeness by Estelle Frankel offers much in the way of incorporating psychotherapeutic & meditative practices for a weaving of a rich tapestry of deep healing.

This beautiful work encourages opening one’s heart to the joys of life by offering advice on how to accept the great peace and depth that can be gained even in the darkest hours of life. Ms. Frankel reminds us of an encouraging but useful cliché`-- often, during life’s journey it’s darkest before the dawn.

Healing through the Dark Emotions: the Wisdom of Grief, Fear and Despair by Miriam Greenspan offers inspiring stories on becoming more resilient & gaining strength through faith. Ms. Greenspan states that often we deny our darker emotions when we can develop them as tools to propel ourselves forward to a more healing space. By utilizing and increasing our trust and faith even the darkest feelings can yield positive results as we learn “emotional alchemy.”

some of SNN’s must read books:

Carolyn Myss’ books Scared Contracts and Anatomy of the Spirit takes us on a journey inward to tap into our immortal soul. Dr. Myss, a medical intuitive, has been featured on PBS. She demonstrated amazing skills in medical diagnosis and speaks to how to develop it in her books. Scared Contracts can be utilized for a powerful program of spiritual growth. Its impact can be felt almost immediately with meaningful coincidences or what Carl Jung, MD, Freud’s protégé` termed synchronistic events lighting the way inward.

Scared Contracts speaks to our understanding why we are in physical form, expanding our consciousness and moving closer to our immortal spirit. This best seller, like many others written by physicians, psychologists and physicists address our spiritual issues urging balancing and integrating of our lives.

Laurie Beth Jones, author of Jesus: CEO and The Path, urges a more integrated life style for professional success as well. Incorporating professional, spiritual and personal goals is a delicate balancing act yet it is a way of life that leads to wholeness. Our minds and our bodies cannot succeed if our spirits are depleted.

Culturally, we still strive to envision an integrated human existence where realistically we can approach the balance of a spiritually empowered awareness into our lifestyle. Inevitably, this is a personal choice, a gradual process yet a rewarding and worthwhile journey.

Many are fearful of the solitude on what M. Scott Peck, MD called: The Road Less Traveled. Walking a spiritual path requires courage, patience and commitment to pursue an enriched existence. Lamenting loneliness when our internal dialogue is saying: “I don’t want to be whole if that means being alone” is common.

Gary Zukav’s The Seat of the Soul became a national treasure when Oprah shared it with America in approximately 1999 despite its having been written in 1989. It discusses authentic empowerment through utilization of our expanding consciousness and reaching beyond the physical senses into the non-physical realm. If physics is your thing read Gary’s The Dancing WuLi Masters the predecessor of The Seat of the Soul. It’s a remarkable book that had the honor of winning the 1979 American Science Book Award.

Reinventing Medicine and Healing Words by Larry Dossey, MD are books that explores the spiritual realm scientifically. Healing Words demonstrates mind-boggling scientific evidence that prayer works ...read more

Don Michel Ruiz, MD’s little book, The Four Agreements, brings with it a huge message and it’s an absolute must read. His concepts are simple: “speak with integrity, don’t take anything personally, don’t make assumptions and always do your best.” Ruizs’ words are so profound for those of us wanting a simpler life.

Why not make this a time of self-healing and renewal and give Ruiz’s four simple insights a try? Why not try one a week in what can be an effort to add more spirit based acts and thoughts to our lives. Make it a self-improvement project and starting with Ruiz’ treasure.

Life is simpler than our society makes it. The best things in life are not things at all. Joseph F. Goodavage captured the disenchantment with our cultural bias towards “he/she who die with the most toys wins” in 1967 in his book Astrology: The Space Age Science:

“It seems we have reached the saturation point with materialism. It has generated nothing but frustration, hatred, wars and class strife. Its goal is empty and meaningless, a blind alley for humanity. We must admit the existence of new evidence, all of which points unerringly toward the sublime unity and interdependence of everything in nature.

Words & thoughts create images and certainly visualizing a fulfilled life is helpful in the manifestation of the empowered lifestyle spoken about by the authors above. Physicists have discovered that certain sub-atomic particles don’t exist until the scientist imagines they do. Science has proven prayer works. Words, thoughts & silent “self-talk” have deep internal & external impact. It behooves us as spirituality awakening beings to make certain the images coming into our mind set have as their creator positive and enlightened information and sources. Credentialed and recognized authors wrote the books mentioned above; sound information is the place to start being more aware of your spirituality.

We have no power to change anyone other than our self. By canceling negative “scripts” in your mind you can start working on you and inspiring books can help us rethink our own life time patterns. Making the world better begins with each of us. Don’t allow your spirit, mind or body to be invaded by negativity. Criticism always says more about the criticizer than the criticized. Redefine your existence with new sources of information.

Inevitably, life’s simplest pleasures can be most gratifying. Even five minutes of prayerful reflection can be helpful. Frequent expressions of gratitude for our bountiful blessings are important. Acknowledging that most of the world goes to bed hungry puts things into perspective. Taking a hot shower (a luxury billions don’t have!) can be a rebirthing experience especially if one images the water washing away tensions and worries. Looking at a plant and remembering that it, like you, is a living being can be enchanting. Expect miracles! Practice random acts of kindness. Listen to great music. Appreciate nature. READ for it’s something enriching that billions can’t do. Seek out like-minds who understand and share “the journey.” Take an inspired self forward in the world and interact with others seeking joy in the moment.
