Love & Marriage

are Good for Your Health

Having steady meaningful relationships demonstrate the value of love, sex, and marriage in helping us live longer and healthier lives.

Studies are showing the connection between a loving marriage or partnership and a long life. The National Center for Health Statistics has said that married adults (as well as those in committed relationships without the legalities) do better health-wise than those who are divorced, widowed or never married reports The Indianapolis Star.

Dr. Stephen Bogdewic, vice chair of family medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine stated: "there's plenty of evidence that human sexuality, intimacy, love and marriage are very, very good for our health." Dr. Bogdewic also told Indianapolis Star reporter Shari Rudavsky. "If a new drug had that same impact, virtually every doctor in the country would be recommending it."

Married people are less likely to smoke, indulge in drinking heavily or being physically inactive than those who are not in a loving, committed relationship. However, married men may weight more than their single counterparts. Being married, hopefully, provides one with the companionship of someone who cares, nurtures, supports, prepares meals; partners take care of one another.

What's the connection to health? A healthy sex life triggers the release of body chemicals called endorphins, natural opiates and oxytoxin that increase well-being and so much more….nookie is good for your health read more
